Student Spotlight: Dre Gibson
Dre Gibson, born in Wilmington and raised in Charlotte, NC, will graduate with an Associate in Arts this August. After graduation, he will attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington. We caught up with Dre to learn more about his experiences and future plans.
Why did you choose to attend CFCC?
I chose CFCC to further my learning and network. It’s been a great stepping stone towards my future goals.
What are your plans after graduating from CFCC?
I am working on starting my own nonprofit, and I will be attending UNCW. Go Seahawks!
What will you miss most about CFCC?
The Nixon Leader Center.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to open my own school.
What has been the best piece of advice you’ve received?
The best advice I’ve received is from our Diversity Success Coordinator, Donterio Perkins. He says that sometimes it’s not your time.
What message do you have for current and future students?
Be authentic and genuine with everything you do. Learning is important, and the connections you make with people are just as important.
