Any advice for taking a test online?
Taking your test on a wired internet connection is encouraged. It is possible for (although rare) wireless connections to drop out during a test, locking you out. When submitting your answer only click the “Submit” once. A double click will result in an Access Denied error and will lock you out of the test.
Please Consider the Following During Test Taking:
For timed exams, if you are able to save your questions and navigate away from the exam, the timer is still running.
Only ever have one window or tab open when taking an online test.
If you need to type a long essay (more than a few sentences), consider typing it in a word processor and copying/pasting it into Blackboard. This way, your work will not be lost if you encounter technical difficulties.
I was taking a test and it froze/locked me out/etc. What should I do?
If possible, take a screenshot of the problem/error message you are receiving.
Next, contact your instructor immediately and explain the issue you had while taking the test. They are the only ones who can reset the test for you. Neither IT nor the Online Learning department can reset the test. Additionally, each instructor may have their own rules on test-taking. Please read your course syllabus for more information.
Where Can I Find My Grades in Blackboard?
You can easily check all course Grades from the Universal Base Navigation Bar (UBN). If you are currently enrolled in a Blackboard Original Course, you can locate your grades by clicking the Grades link located on the left-hand navigation toolbar located in the course. If your course is in the new Blackboard Ultra version you can click the Gradebook icon located at the top right-hand corner of your course to go into your grade book. Additional help can be found below.
Some instructors do not make grades available through Blackboard. In those cases please direct questions to the instructor.
Does Blackboard have a mobile app?
Yes, Blackboard does have a mobile app for Android, iPhone, and Blackberry devices. The app is designed to be used as a quick way to stay connected to your online course. Do not use it to take a test.
