Career & College Ready Pathway

The Career & College Ready (CCR) Pathway is a new opportunity authorized by Session Law 2025-56, §115D-30.20 “Gateway to College Programs”, and SBCCC 1D 400.11(e) & 1D 400.8(b)(1). It expands access to CCP by giving students the chance to build academic readiness before beginning a traditional CCP Pathway.

 

Who Is the CCR Pathway For?

If your GPA does not yet meet the minimum requirement for full CCP participation, the CCR Summer Bridge is designed for you.

Complete the required Developmental English and Developmental Math courses, and you can become fully eligible to enroll in any approved CCP Pathway your college offers.

Simply want to be ready for college-level math and English before graduation? CCR lets you:

  • Strengthen your academic foundation.
  • Complete college developmental coursework while still in high school for those falling below the 2.8 unweighted GPA threshold.
  • Enter college-level English and Math directly after graduation.
  • Optional: Continue into college-level English/Math while still in high school once the developmental courses are complete.

CCR students may also explore Pathway to Employment courses in:

  • Public Safety
  • Construction Trades

These exploratory offerings help you discover high-demand careers—even if enrolling in a traditional CCP pathway is not your goal.

  • Students who previously did not meet CCP eligibility now have a clear, supported entry point.
Tuition Waived
  • CCR is part of Career & College Promise, so tuition is waived.

    Students are responsible for fees, books, materials, and transportation.

A Faster Path to Your Goals
  • Academic credits earned through CCP allow students who continue into college after graduation to complete a degree or credential in less time.

 

Important Transcript Information

  • Developmental English and Math courses do not transfer back to the high school transcript.
  • These courses do appear on the college transcript, but they are not calculated into the collegiate GPA.

 

What Happens After CCR?

Once a student completes the required supplemental coursework:

  • They become eligible for any College Transfer Pathway, and/or
  • They may enter a Career & Technical Education Pathway
  • Or continue into college-level math/English while still in high school
  • Or pursue workforce exploration through Pathway to Employment offerings

CCR truly adapts to a student’s individual goals—whether that is college transfer, technical education, career exploration, or academic readiness.
