CFCC Electrical Lineworker Pre-Apprenticeship Program Recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Wilmington, NC — Cape Fear Community College is excited to announce its Electrical Lineworker Pre- Apprenticeship program was recently recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Pre-Apprenticeship Program at the ApprenticeshipNC Conference virtual award ceremony on April 28, 2021.
“We are extremely grateful for this commendable recognition, said CFCC Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development John Downing. “This award recognizes quality pre-apprenticeship programs across the state in all the trades. Consideration was given for quality of instruction and employer support.”
CFCC’s Electrical Lineworker program attracts students and veterans from all over North Carolina and beyond. Since its onset, the program has proudly graduated 341 students and worked with over 14 employers to place students into a rewarding career.
The 10-week training program teaches students to set and climb poles; install cross arms, hardware, lines, and transformers; use tools and equipment of the trade through field experience; overhead and underground construction practices; electric theory and practice; safety and teamwork; and commercial driving.
“Receiving this special recognition speaks to the continued growth and success of our lineworker program and illustrates the unfailing dedication of faculty and staff who strive to deliver high-quality instruction and training to our students,” said CFCC President Jim Morton.
