CFCC Partners with Coastal Horizons to Make Licensed Therapists Accessible to Students
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College is partnering with Coastal Horizons to make free licensed therapy sessions available to students. Through the Coastal Horizons and CFCC Collaborative, CFCC students will have a direct and immediate way to connect with licensed therapists and have confidential discussions on campus or virtually.
“At Cape Fear, our commitment to students doesn’t stop with academic success; it extends to their overall wellbeing,” said CFCC President Jim Morton. “With a Coastal Horizon’s licensed therapist readily accessible on campus, our students will have a convenient and confidential way to address personal challenges and concerns.”
“The need for professional mental health care differs from many other services because individuals do not think about it until it is acutely needed. Coastal Horizons applauds Cape Fear Community College’s foreword thinking in recognizing their students deserve professional treatment removed of barriers. Our organization is honored to help CFCC’s students, while continuing to meet the behavioral health needs of our community as a whole. We sincerely appreciate the partnership with CFCC, as we work daily to promote healthier lives, stronger families, and safer communities,” said Margaret Weller-Stargell, President and CEO of Coastal Horizons Center, Inc.
This semester, a Coastal Horizons therapist will be available to meet with students at the CFCC downtown Wilmington Campus seven hours a day, four days per week. Telehealth sessions will also be offered. In addition, the Collaborative will implement prevention, awareness, and wellness forums, student events, and staff training to generate greater awareness and understanding about mental health and wellness issues.
“We appreciate Coastal Horizons’ dedication to the wellbeing of our students and campus community. Their work across the region and beyond is truly life-changing. Many CFCC students will benefit from this collaboration, and so will CFCC as a whole,” said Morton.
