21 – Student Success Series: Union Station, room 153, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm – Effective Time Management and Organization Strategies (lunch provided)
Learn how to prioritize assignments, create a realistic study schedule, and reduce stress to promote academic success. As a bonus, participants will receive a strategically designed planner for the semester!
27 – What’s Your Word? Union Station Lower Lobby, 10:00 am – noon
Start out 2026 right! Visit the Counseling Center table in the Union Station lower lobby to create a friendship bracelet featuring your focus word of the New Year!
28 – Mental Health First Aid Certification Class Wilmington Campus, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Mental Health First Aid Training available to all staff, faculty, and students. MHFA provides information on how to respond to mental health and substance use crises. Each class consists of approximately 2 1/2 hours of pre-work online before the class meets. Contact counseling@cfcc.edu for information and/or to register.

4 – Student Success Series Union Station, room 153, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (lunch provided) – From Shy to Show-Up: Social Skills for the Real World
Boost your confidence and learn how to connect with others in everyday situations. This workshop will help you start conversations, listen actively, and handle awkward moments with ease—skills that make social interactions feel natural and rewarding.
5 – What’s Your Word – PECHS Edition (Burgaw Campus)
Start out 2026 right! Create a friendship bracelet during Wolf Lunch that features your focus word of the New Year!
11 – QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training Union Station, room 512, 10 – 12 or 1:30 – 3:30
Join Counseling for this free, evidence-based program that teaches participants how to recognize warning signs of suicide, ask the right questions, and connect individuals to help. In just one to two hours, you’ll learn practical steps to intervene and save a life—similar to CPR, but for mental health crises. This training is designed for anyone in the community who wants to be prepared to help someone in need.
17 – National Random Acts of Kindness Day
Join the Counseling Center to encourage others by performing small, unexpected acts of kindness to brighten someone else’s day. Check the RAK posters in the Union Station and McKeithan Center lobbies or the CFCC Counseling instagram @CFCC_Counseling for ideas and inspiration!
18 – Student Success Series: Union Station room 153, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm – Effective Reading, Notetaking, and Test Prep Strategies
Review essential skills for academic success. The topics will include effective note-taking methods, reading techniques for college-level material, and efficient and effective test prep strategies to reduce stress and promote academic success.

Discover how to manage stress, understand your emotions, and build stronger relationships. In this session, you’ll explore empathy, conflict resolution, and strategies for recognizing triggers so you can thrive in academic and professional settings.

1 – Student Success Series: Union Station room 153, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (lunch provided) – Effective Test-taking Strategies
Learn proven techniques to approach exams with confidence and reduce stress. Topics include strategies for answering specific types of test questions, including multiple choice, short answer/essay, and true/false.
2 – Clothesline Project T-Shirt Decorating with the Creative Arts Club Wilmington Campus, Union Station Lower Lobby, 10 am – 1 pm
Come join the Creative Arts Club and other students to decorate paper t-shirts for awareness. These t-shirts will be showcased around each campus.
The purpose of the project is to increase awareness of the impact of violence and abuse, to honor a survivor’s strength to continue, and to provide another avenue for them to courageously break the silence that often surrounds their experience.
15 – Student Success Series: Union Station room 153, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (lunch provided) – Plan It, Color It, Own It: Creative Bullet Journaling for Success
Turn organization into art! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design personalized bullet journal pages using markers and stickers to track events, set goals, and stay motivated—all while expressing your creativity.

Join Student Accessibility Services and Counseling for a test prep and stress relief workshop in the Nixon Leaders Center. Learn some exam preparation strategies and wind down with chair yoga!
29 – Denim Day, gather for a group photo of everyone in their denim at 11:00 am: Union Station lobby downtown near the elevators, we need EVERYONE available!!!
The Counseling Center asks students, staff and faculty to make a social statement by wearing jeans on April 29th as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. CFCC Faculty and Staff are invited to wear jeans without visible tears or distress.
