Employee Spotlight: Mark Westfall
Meet Mark Westfall, the Program Chair of Electrical Lineworker Training at Cape Fear Community College. Mark’s journey to CFCC was paved with over 40 years of experience in the lineman trade, gained while working for a utility company in the Midwest.
Reflecting on his journey, Mark attributes much of his success to one of his high school teachers.
“I had a high school teacher who was always pushing me to be the best that I could be. His neighbor worked for a power company, and they had an opening. I was the first person he thought of.”
Mark found his calling there, eventually leading him to a fulfilling career spanning four decades before retiring and relocating south.
Mark joined our college community in December of 2018, initially in a part-time role, before transitioning to a full-time position in April of 2019.
Mark’s passion lies in passing on his knowledge to eager students. He finds satisfaction in guiding students through the lineman trade, instilling in them the skills necessary for success.
Mark received one piece of advice he has upheld throughout his career: “Any job that was worth doing was worth doing right the first time.”
Beyond the classroom, Mark finds joy in spending quality time with his family, boating, and fishing. Let’s extend our gratitude to Mark Westfall for his commitment to shaping the next generation of skilled lineworkers.
