Lillian Rousey is an exceptional high school senior from Pender Early College High School who has been accepted to Harvard University. With her academic prowess, she will graduate with a high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree from Cape Fear Community College.

Lillian has a clear vision for her future and intends to pursue a concentration in government and a minor concentration in educational studies. Thanks to her financial aid package, which includes a generous grant, she is able to cover the entire tuition cost for her studies at Harvard. Lillian Rousey’s ambition and dedication make her a standout student, and her future looks incredibly bright.

FROM FARM TO FUTURE

Lillian’s part-time work at a local blackberry farm has profoundly impacted her career choices. Through her experiences working alongside migrant farm workers, Lillian has gained a deep appreciation for their contributions to the agricultural industry and an understanding of the challenges they face. She has witnessed firsthand the difficulties of the migrant labor system and the limited access to resources and opportunities in rural communities.

Lillian’s experiences have fueled her drive to pursue a career dedicated to addressing the pressing issues faced by underserved and underrepresented communities. She is committed to leveraging academic resources to positively impact rural areas, with a particular focus on migrant labor and rural education.

IMPRESSIVE ACCEPTANCES

Lillian Rousey’s academic achievements have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by the numerous prestigious universities that accepted her applications. In addition to being accepted to Harvard University, Lillian was also accepted to Yale, UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Virginia, and NC State. Furthermore, Lillian was offered the highly-regarded Morehead-Cain Scholarship, a merit-based scholarship covering full tuition, room and board, and additional expenses.

Despite the incredible opportunities presented to her, Lillian ultimately chose to attend Harvard due to its reputation as one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Additionally, the generous financial aid package provided by Harvard was a deciding factor for Lillian in making her final decision.

Lillian’s outstanding academic achievements and scholarship offers reflect her exceptional abilities, and her decision to attend Harvard highlights her determination to pursue excellence in all areas of her life.

EXPLORING LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

In addition to her impressive academic achievements and ambitious goals, Lillian Rousey has a strong passion for learning about other cultures and languages. Lillian’s older brother serves in the military and was stationed in Jordan. He shared stories with her about the country and its culture.

These stories sparked a desire to learn more about the region, and she applied for the National Security Language Initiative for Youth. Lillian received a full scholarship from the State Department to study Arabic in Amman, Jordan. She spent six intensive weeks learning modern standard Arabic at the Qasid Arabic Institute.

This experience broadened her perspective and solidified her interest in government and education as a means to promote understanding and peace between different cultures. Lillian’s passion for language and cultural understanding highlights her dedication to positively impacting the world around her.

CFCC’S IMPACT

Lillian has achieved incredible academic success, and she quickly acknowledges the role that CFCC has played in her journey. Throughout her time at Pender Early College High School, Lillian has relied on the support and resources provided by CFCC. She credits CFCC with helping her to develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed academically and professionally.

Lillian also points out the invaluable support of Natasha Snyder, CFCC PECHS liaison. Snyder provided Lillian with a school office to conduct her Harvard and Yale interviews because her rural home internet signal was unpredictable.

“Mrs. Snyder is the sweetest person,” Lillian shared. “She was so wonderful to let me use campus rooms. She took the time to sit down with me and help me look at my options.”

The support and encouragement she received from CFCC have undoubtedly played a significant role in her impressive academic achievements and is a testament to the school’s commitment to its students.
