Gain the knowledge and skills necessary for a graphic design and advertising career!

CFCC’s Associate in Applied Science degree program will emphasize graphic design, advertising, illustration, and digital and multimedia preparation of printed and electronic promotional materials.

Students will be trained in developing concepts and designs for promotional materials such as newspaper and magazine advertisements, posters, folders, letterheads, corporate symbols, brochures, booklets, preparation of art for printing, lettering and typography photography, and electronic media.

Graduates should qualify for employment opportunities with graphic design studios, advertising agencies, printing companies, department stores, a wide variety of manufacturing industries, newspapers, and businesses with in-house graphics operations.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Students will demonstrate a foundational understanding of principles, tool usage, and basic application.
  • Students will learn foundational skills and practices needed in the field and develop research skills, presentation confidence, and social skills needed to engage in the interpersonal and professional setting. Students will also gain an awareness of the influence of their designs and the graphic design industry in general.
  • Students will learn real-world perspectives and practices from engaging with local and regional professionals in the industry.
  • Students will learn to refine and evaluate their work and that of their peers to prepare for entry into the workforce or continuing study.
