Assistance Dog Training

This course provides the educational component for training assistance dogs. Assistance dogs support an individual’s physical rehabilitation, emotional healing, and provide companion support for a client rediscovering their independence.

This course is about three months long and takes place mostly online, with 5 in-person meetings facilitated by Paws4People staff.There are no prerequisites to becoming an assistance dog trainer, but completion of the program requires hands-on volunteer hours at the dog training facility, coordinated by Paws4People.
