This class will be taught at our partnering business Stevenson Hendrick Honda in Wilmington!

This course is designed to introduce fundamental automotive mechanic technician skills and competencies. Coursework includes industry fundamentals including PPE, tools environmental regulation, government regulation and hazardous materials; transportation electricity, service, brakes, steering, and suspension.

Registration – Auto Tech $210
Mechanic Kit* A Mechanic Kit is recommended for the class, but not required. Throughout the class, students will become familiar with standard tools of the trade and begin to build a mechanic toolkit.

A standard mechanic kit includes:

  • Basic mechanics tool set with 1/2 Inch Impact Gun (Either Pneumatic/Air powered or Electric)
  • 3/8 Inch Impact Gun (Electric preferred)
  • Wheel Service Sockets – 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, 22mm
  • Wheel Service Pre-Set Torque Wrench (80 ft lbs)
  • Engine oil filter wrench
  • Screwdriver set
  • Wrench/Plier set
  • Set of basic ratcheting wrenches
  • Tire tool kit (Tire Valve Stem Tool, Wheel Balance Hammer)
  • Pry Bar set
  • Diagonal Cutters
  • 16oz Hammer
  • Tire Tread Depth Tool
  • Brake Measurement Tool
  • Tire inflator tool
  • Flashlight

*If the student does not have these tools, they can buy them at Home Depot, Lowe’s, or their chosen store.
