Sea Devil Healthcare Hero: Marco Perez
Originally from Sampson County, Marco Perez decided to pursue a career in nursing at CFCC for its reputation as the #1 Best RN program in North Carolina.
Since childhood, Marco knew he wanted to work in healthcare and landed on nursing for the career growth potential it offers. “From here I can move up and become a nurse educator, practitioner, or anesthetist. So many different career paths are available, at your own pace,” said Perez.
Perez volunteered to assist New Hanover Regional Medical Center in its COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
I feel a great sense of pride in being able to help our community in such a monumental way. This long-awaited vaccine is among the first steps towards achieving normalcy. During this vaccine clinic, I was able to see first hand how appreciative everyone was to receive this vaccine. This was such a rewarding and unforgettable experience, and I thank my instructor for giving us this opportunity.
Perez plans to continue to grow his nursing career and become a nurse practitioner.
What propels Perez through these tough times, nursing school, and more? His favorite quote: “I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy. I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.” —Art Williams
