Cape Fear Community College boasts a thriving literary and arts community, with the Portals magazine showcasing the creative works of CFCC students, faculty, and staff, as well as NC undergraduate college students. Meanwhile, StoryForce provides a safe space for CFCC veterans and military family members to share their stories and experiences during their transition to civilian life.
Portals is Cape Fear Community College’s literary and arts journal, featuring poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and two-dimensional visual art. Literary and art submissions are open to our students, faculty, and staff at CFCC. Additionally, literary submissions are now open to all NC undergraduate college students. CFCC’S English faculty and student editors work together to create and design the magazine, process and select the submissions, and practice editing and publishing.
StoryForce is a workshop designed by the Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) English Department to provide CFCC veterans and military family members a safe and respectful environment in which to explore their transition from military to academic/civilian life. The purpose of the group is to honor the experiences of the veterans and military family members on our campus by providing a space for them to share their stories. We commend our seventh group of StoryForce participants for their courage and their creativity.
