Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Crime statistics Act (The Clery Act)
Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all students, employees, and visitors. In accordance with our commitment, we are pleased to share important data as part of our compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, often referred to as the “Clery Act.”
This federal statute requires colleges and universities participating in federal financial aid programs to disclose information regarding campus crime and safety policies. The Clery Act provides uniform information on crime and safety issues across universities, ensuring that students, prospective students, and the public are informed.
CFCC publishes an Annual Security Report (ASR) that includes crime statistics for the previous three years, safety awareness programming, student conduct information, and other relevant details regarding campus incidents as defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniformed Crime Reporting (UCR) and the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) definitions and standards. The ASR also contains essential security policy statements, such as sexual assault policies, law enforcement authority, and guidance on where to report crimes.
Each year, the Annual Security Report (ASR) is made available to current/prospective students and employees. The report is available on the college’s website, and paper copies may be requested at the CFCC Downtown Campus / Campus Safety Office in the A Building (Room 220).
