Cape Fear Community College offers a clear transfer path to North Carolina universities through the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement .
We have also partnered with four-year institutions to create direct admit opportunities for qualifying students. Our agreements with these institutions guarantee admission and provide access to tailored advising, scholarships, and transfer resources.
With pathways to universities like Appalachian State, UNC Wilmington, East Carolina University, UNC Chapel Hill, and more, you can smoothly transition from your associate degree to a bachelor’s program with personalized support every step of the way.

Program Eligibility
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher
- Enrollment in a CFCC college transfer program

Program Eligibility
- Full-time enrollment in an approved associate degree program.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 (must maintain a C or better to remain in the program)
- Early College and Career and College Promise students pursuing an approved associate degree and in their junior year of high school may also apply.

Carolina Student Transfer Excellence (C-STEP) Program
Program Eligibility
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2
- Completion of fewer than 30 hours of college credits
- Successful completion of high school (high school seniors should apply in April for fall admission.)
(Early college students are not eligible for this program. Dual enrolled high school students may only apply once they are preparing to graduate high school.)

- Guaranteed admission to UNC general arts and sciences
- Waived application fee
- Access to specialized CFCC advising and mentorship
- Access to UNC admissions, advising, financial aid and student mentors

UNC C-STEP Application
UNC Charlotte
- Enrollment in a CFCC college transfer program with completion of no more than 15 credits
- Demonstrated success in CFCC classes (minimum GPA of 2.0 each semester)

Pathways
The Pathways program provides guaranteed transfer admission to UNCW for North Carolina Community College students completing an AA, AS, AE, AATP, ASTP, or AFA.
Program Eligibility
- Currently enrolled in a transferable associate degree (AA/AS/AE/AATP/ASTP/AFA)
- Dual-enrolled or early college students who plan to apply as first-year students are not eligible for Pathways.

- Early access to transfer resources, such as tailored coaching and advising from a transfer student success coordinator
- Invitations to special workshops and events
- Guaranteed admission as a transfer student
- Simplified transfer application process and transfer application fee waiver
UNCW Pathways Application
Pre-Hawk Program: Direct Admit Program for CFCC Students
The Pre-Hawk Program provides select students a seamless pathway from CFCC to UNCW through direct admission.
Program Eligibility
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2 at CFCC
- Enrollment in a CFCC college transfer program with completion of 12-30 credits
- Demonstrated commitment to transferring to UNCW
