Calculate Your Grade Point Average (GPA)

Take the number of credit hours assigned to each registered class and multiply them by the value of the grade earned (A = 4pts, B = 3pts, C = 2pts D = 1 pt, F, W, WP, WF = 0 pts). Then calculate the number of cumulative credit hours attempted and divide that by the number of cumulative credit hours completed.

Example 1

Student A is registered for 12 credit hours and passed all three classes.

Course Grade Cumulative Semester Hours Attempted Total Cumulative Credit Hours
ABC 111 A (4pts) 4 16
ABC 222 A (4 pts) 4 16
ABC 222 B (3 pts) 4 12
Total Points 12 44

44 total points divided by 12 semester credit hours equals a 3.6 Semester Grade Point Average.

Student A attempted 12 credit hours and completed 12 credit hours giving him a 100% completion rate for that semester.

Example 2

Student B is registered for 16 credit hours and passes three out of the four classes.

Course Grade Cumulative Semester Hours Attempted Total Cumulative Credit Hours
XYZ 111 B (3 pts) 4 12
XYZ 222 B (3 pts) 4 12
XYZ 333 F (0 pts) 4 0
Total Points 16 32

32 total points divided by 16 semester credit hours equals 2.0 Semester Grade Point Average.

Student B attempted 16 credit hours and completed 12 credit hours giving him a 75% completion rate for that semester.
