FAQ for Prospective Students

CCP stands for Career and College Promise which is the name of the statewide program that allows high school students to take community college classes. Students are eligible starting their Junior year of high school and eligibility ends upon graduation from high school.

Yes! Homeschool and Private School students are welcome to participate in dual enrollment. Please review our Homeschool page for more information.

There is no age requirement for College Transfer Pathways (CTP)and Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways offered through curriculum. However, there are age requirements for some Workforce Continuing Education Pathways offered through Economic and Workforce Development. If you are interested in an EWD pathway, please see the descriptions and contact the Program Director for more information.

Dual enrollment students, like all other CFCC students, may take up to 18 credits hours in a normal semester (spring or fall semesters) which equals five or six classes. Because our summer session is already an abbreviated session, the course limit is 13 credit hours.

The NC State Board of Education outlines the policies for high school transcript standards.

Our application paperwork indicates that college transfer courses receive the quality point weight, those are the courses on the CAA list. All courses in the College Transfer Pathways are on this list. Career and Technical Education courses are not included in the one quality point weight unless they appear on the list. If you have any additional questions about how your college courses are translated on the high school transcript, you will need to address those with the high school, since high school transcript guidance is dictated by NCDPI and the NC State Board of Education, not the Community College System.

Homeschool students/parents with questions about dual credit guidance should direct those questions to the Department of Non-Public Education. Here is a link to help you connect .

Dual enrollment students may take courses in their pathway at any time and location that works with their schedules. Classes are offered morning, afternoon, and at night at the downtown Wilmington Campus, North Campus, Surf City Center and Burgaw Center. Students may also take classes online. CFCC is not responsible for nor provides transportation to and from classes.

Once all applications and supporting documents have been properly submitted, allow 7-10 business days for processing. Students will receive acceptance letters through the mail and email with instructions regarding setting up their MyCFCC accounts.

Once admitted, students can view their chosen pathway courses and offerings through self-service (located in the Launchpad area of the myCFCC student portal).

To access, students will select the “Self-Service” tab under Launchpad. From there, students will click on “Student Planning,” then “Go to My Progress.” From here, students can view their pathway and the courses they are eligible to select from.

Tuition is waived for CCP students during the fall, winter, spring, and summer terms. Still, CCP students are responsible for paying student activity fees, parking/security fees, technology fees, textbooks, and any required supplies. Payments are due to the CFCC Business Office by the deadlines posted on the Academic Calendar at the time of registration. Failure to pay fees will result in automatic removal from your courses.

This can be done in person at our business office or online by accessing the Pay Tuition and Fees link under Launchpad in myCFCC. Students who register early enough may be eligible for a payment plan by accessing the payment plan link through their student portal. The fee total is based on the number of credits taken. Parking/security fees are not charged for online classes.

Textbook costs vary; specific textbook information may be found at the CFCC Bookstore .

All questions about billing must be directed to the Business Office . The CCP team does not have access to student financial information.

Financial aid is only available to high school graduates. However, students in CCP are eligible to apply to CFCC scholarships to go towards the cost of fees and/or textbooks.
