Registration Information and Requirements

For Individuals with a High School Degree or Higher

The CFCC Nurse Aide I (NA I) program is approved by the North Carolina State Department of Health and Human Services Division of Health Service Regulation (DPHSR). Students who complete the NA I training course are eligible to sit for the North Carolina State Nurse Aide I Registry. CFCC is an in-facility N.C. State Nurse Aide I testing site.

The CFCC Nurse Aide II (NA II) program is approved by the NC Board of Nursing. Students who complete the NA II training course are eligible to be placed on the NC state NA II Registry. Nurse aide courses are offered at the Alston W. Burke Center at Surf City, Burgaw Center, and the downtown Wilmington Campus. Fall Nurse Aide I Registration

NA I Registration Fee: $210.00 (Money Order Only)
NA II Registration Fee: $225.00 (Money Order Only)

Required Documents for Registration

Required Documents for NA I Registration
  • Proof student is 17 by the first day of class.
  • Copy of high school or GED transcripts.
  • Copy of higher education transcripts if applicable.
  • High school students not in a CCP/CTE Pathway program must submit a recommendation letter (on school letterhead) from their high school principal or his/her designee.
  • Government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport.
  • Social security card.
  • If the student is under 18, a notarized parental consent form must be submitted by the first day of class.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND FEES
  • Background check /12-panel drug screen – $80 (information will be given out at registration).
  • Physical and proof of vaccination history including (price will vary by vendor)
    • TB test (two-step)– $30 health department
    • 2 Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titer
    • History of Chicken Pox, positive antibody titer or 2 Varicella immunizations
    • Tetanus vaccination within the last ten years
    • Flu vaccine (seasonal)
    • Have had either the Hepatitis B vaccination series, be in process or have signed a waiver form.
    • Clinical facilities require proof of COVID-19 vaccination and may also require COVID-19 testing before and during the clinical portion of the course.
  • CPR Certification – $6 if taken as part of the course – outside of NA course price varies by instructor/vendor.
  • Dress code:
    • Ceil blue scrubs – (price will vary by vendor)
    • Watch with a second hand — (digital watches not allowed)
    • White sneakers or nursing shoes– (price will vary by vendor)
    • White long sleeve T-shirts, turtleneck or mock turtleneck shirts may be worn under scrub tops
  • Nurse aide I textbook and accompanying workbook: Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care: Long-Term Care, 5th Edition – ISBN: 978-1-60425-1371 – $63.00 (CFCC Bookstore – Prices are for new books only and are subject to change)
  • The CFCC Nurse Aide I program offers in-facility testing for the North Carolina State Nurse Aide I Written Examination and Skill Evaluation Certification/Registry Test administered by Credentia. Testing Fee – $140.
Required Documents for NA II Registration
  • The NA II candidate must be 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or a GED and provide documentation of same.
  • Proof a current, unencumbered North Carolina NA I Registry.
  • A government-issued photo ID, such as a current driver’s license
  • Social Security card.
ADDITIONAL NA II COURSE REQUIREMENTS
  • A clean background check and drug screen from the authorized college provider.
  • A current physical with proof of vaccination for:
    • 2 Measles/Mumps/Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titer
    • History of Chicken Pox (documentation required), positive antibody titer or 2 Varicella immunizations
    • Tetanus vaccination within the last ten years
    • Flu vaccine (required October-March)
    • TB skin test (PPD within the past year) or chest x-ray
    • Have had either the Hepatitis B vaccination series, be in process or have signed a waiver form.
    • COVID-19 vaccination complete
  • A current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR card.
  • Student must provide:
    • Ceil blue scrubs.
    • A watch with a second hand (digital watches are not allowed).
    • White nursing shoes or white sneakers and white socks.
  • Students will be responsible for a $20 fee for a six-month subscription to myclinicalexchange.com . Students will receive information regarding this site on the first day of their class. This site is used by Novant Health to upload student information for the clinical rotation and is a requirement for all NA II students.
NURSE AIDE LEVEL II REFRESHER/COMPETENCY ASSESSMENTS

*Competency Assessment is only available for those NA II who have an expired NA II listing and meet all eligibility requirements listed below.

The NA II is eligible for Competency assessment in one of two ways:

  1. The NA II must have worked at least eight hours for compensation during the past 24 months performing nursing care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  2. The NA II has had a continuous period of 24 months during which nursing care activities were not performed for monetary compensation, but Patient care activities were performed for Compensation
  3. **The NA II must have no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of funds on the DHHSR Nurse Aide Registry.

    NOTE: If a NA II does not meet either of the above criteria, an entire NA II course must be completed.
